Ebola still on Rampage

According to the WHO the weekly decline in the number of new cases of Ebola that was noticed in April and May has halted.
The number of new cases began to increase about 2 weeks ago.

Also the initial shrinking of the affected regions has also stopped and there is a widening of regions from which new infections are springing up.

In the week to 7th June 16 new cases from 5 prefectures were reported in Guinea.
2 of these prefectures ( Conarky, Kindia) had not reported cases for more than 40 days.
Also 5 of these 16 cases are from unknown sources.

19 unsafe burials were reported in Guinea in the week to June 7.

In Sierra Leone however 15 new cases were reported and 7 of these cases were from already quarantined homes.

392 contacts are being followed up in Sierra Leone.

There are rumors that unsafe burials may also be taking place in Sierra Leone.

Efforts are being made to improve the process of contact tracing in the two regions as well as enhance and improve the communication with local communities.

Meanwhile in Ghana, the plan to test two Ebola vaccines have been stopped by law makers following local protests.
"We don’t want to be Guinea pigs," the people have said.
