Rescue emergency phone numbers and support groups should also be provided, so as to help victims access help on time and prevent an unwanted pregnancy.
The stigmatization associated with rape victims should also be dealt with via the media.
This will make it possible for more people to seek help on time without the fear of being stigmatized.
A course of highly active anti Retroviral drugs may also be given to prevent infection with HIV, especially when the attackers can not be traced.
Psychological and emotional support should also be given to the victim and her family members, this may help minimize the long term emotional instability that may arise from the occurrence.
In conclusion, as discussed earlier, in order to reduce the occurrence of teenage pregnancy; The following issues have to be addressed :
- Early marriage / The child bride
- Adequate information on sexual matters, including the prevention of STDs and unwanted pregnancy should be made available to the general public.
- The society as a whole will have to join in the fight against rape. Societal values that protect the rights of the female child should be emphasized and taught.
This way our communities will be healthier and our children will have a better outlook to life in general.
